GREAT LEARNING

When schools select a particular external curriculum, this will either enable or prevent 'great learning' from occurring.  The curriculum provider may in some parts of the curriculum model support 'great learning' and not in other sections.

Danube is an IB world school that delivers the IB PYP, IB MYP and IB Diploma programmes.  An example, of the above statement would be that the IB Learner Profile supports positive Core Values as part of the personal standards for leaders, staff and students, which would enable ´Great Learning´.

 

However, the IBOs recent decision to reduce the creative element of the IB Diploma Visual Arts programme appears at odds with promoting creativity within the learning environment and therefore not in alignment with the element creativity in the group in Personal Standards.

 

Great Learning is therefore enabled when the curriculum provider is aligned with the various elements of the GL model.
